Background: In health care setting, Stroke is the second leading cause of preventable death and fourth leading cause of disability. Rehabilitation is concerned with improvement in physical and functional abilities of patients after stroke. Aim: The present study aims to assess the effectiveness of selected nursing interventions on the physical and functional abilities among stroke patients admitted in Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital. Materials and Methods: Pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was used to conduct present study. Convenient sampling technique was used to select 50 subjects with stroke. Modified Standardized Stroke Specific Quality of life scale was used to collect data through interview schedule. Findings: The study findings revealed that when pretest and post test score among stroke patients were compared after 3 weeks there was statistically significant differences at(<0.05). During pre-interventional assessment, among 50 stroke patients, 23 patients needed a lot of help, 23 patients needed some help and remaining 4 patients needed a little help. On the other hand, during post interventional assessment, among 50 stroke patients, 21 patients needed a lot of help, 15 patients needed some help, 13 patients needed a little help and 1 patient needed no help. There was statistically significant association observed between Gender and Occupation before intervention and duration of consciousness and blood pressure after intervention with physical and functional abilities of stroke patients. Conclusion: The study concluded that selected nursing interventions were effective in improving physical and functional abilities of stroke patients after three weeks.
