Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding Complimentary Therapies Among Diabetes Patients

Abstract


Diabetes mellitus is one of the highest prevalent and fastest growing diseases in the world. Complementary therapy is economical and simple therapeutic modality may be considered as a beneficial adjuvant for diabetes mellitus. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding complementary therapies among diabetic patients. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test research design is adopted with 30 diabetic patients. Self-administered questionnaire tool was used to determine the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on complementary therapies. The results reveal the comparison of pre-test and post-test levels of knowledge, the pre-test mean score was 11 with standard deviation of 60, and the post-test mean score was 25 with the standard deviation of 134, and the projected t-value was 14.01 which shows highly significance at the level of p < 0.001.
