Occupational Health Hazards and Use of Personal Protective Equipment among the Industrial Workers with a View to Develop Information Booklet in Selected Industries of District Tarn Taran, 2019

Abstract


Background: Occupational health hazard is also called occupational disease which mainly occurs due to exposure to specific hazards at work place. It is important to check the knowledge regarding occupational health hazards and use of personal protective equipment. Aim: A descriptive study was conducted to assess the knowledge regarding occupational health hazards and use of personal protective equipment among the industrial workers working in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited at Goindwal Sahib, Tarn Taran, Punjab, India. Materials and methods: The sample of 100 industrial workers was asked self-structured questionnaire and convenient sample technique was used to select the subject. Results: Overall mean knowledge of Standard Teaching Program was 20.81 and standard deviation was 2.81. So, there was association between the knowledge regarding occupational hazards and use of personal protective equipment among the industrial workers.
