Sharp Injuries by the Object Which is Not Recognised As Sharp

Abstract


Makar Sankranti is a festival dedicated to Surya (Sun) deity. It is observed each year the day Sun enters the Capricorn zodiac which corresponds with the month of January as per the Gregorian calendar. In Jaipur city, the International Kite Festival is celebtated on Makar Sankranti every year. During kite-flying people receive the sun exposure benefits. The kite flying celebration is done in states of Gujarat, Rajasthan etc, During this time, kite-string injuries are commonly seen. To win or cut the kite of another person, people use dangerous methods to make their thread strong. It can cause primary impact injuries such as minor laceration over face and neck, fatal neck injuries, or laceration of hand due to handling of manja. Secondary impact injuries occur which manja gets wrapped around the feet of a person leading to fall on ground causing fracture of extremities or can cause pillion rider to fall from a moving two-wheeler leading to life-threatening injuries to head or torso.The activities of kite flying and manja itself cause a lot of injuries. Manja is not mentioned as a cause of penetrating neck injuries in the literature. Some safety measures may be adopted to prevent injuries. Many people are injured in kite-flying-related incidents on Makar Sankranti in Jaipur and brought to SMS Hospital and other hospitals of the city for treatment. Kite flying causes ordinary to severe injuries but it cannot be banned in India because it is seen as enjioable leisure time. We can aware common people about the cosequences and safety measure of kite-flying.
