A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Information Booklet Regarding Vaccine Preventable Diseases Among Mothers of Under Five Children, at Vantamuri Primary Health Centre, Vantamuri, Belagavi, Karnataka

Abstract


A study was conducted on a sample of 30 selected under five mother at Vantamuri primary health Centre, Vantamuri, Belagavi Objectives of the study were; To assess the knowledge of mothers of under five children, regarding Vaccine Preventable Diseases by pretest. To develop an Information Booklet on Vaccine Preventable Diseases for Mothers of under five children. To implement Information Booklet for mothers of under five children regarding Vaccine Preventable Diseases. To assess the effectiveness of Information Booklet by posttest. Material and methods: Convenient sampling the instruments used for data collection were structured knowledge questionnaire. The data obtained was tabulated and analyzed in terms of objectives of the study and inferential statistics. A pre experimental evaluative study was conducted using one group pre- posttest research design. Result: The mean posttest knowledge score (10.2) was higher than mean pretest knowledge score (23.9). The posttest knowledge score of mothers of under five children regarding vaccine preventable diseases was significantly higher at 0.05 level of significance of paired ‘t’ test. calculated value (18.09) was higher than paired ‘t’ test table value (1.96) at 0.05 level of significance.
