Level of Anxiety Among the Mothers of Thalassemic Children

Abstract


The aim of study was to assess the level of anxiety among the mothers of Thalassemic children. Becoming a mother is an important stage in every women life. This study includes assessing the level of anxiety among mothers of thalassemic children A descriptive study was used with purposive sampling technique. A Modified Hamilton anxiety scale was used to assess the level of anxiety among 30 mothers at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Amritsar, Punjab. It can be seen from the findings that the overall mean anxiety score found to be 32.8 the overall standard deviation anxiety score found to be 8.323. Majority of mothers (22) having anxiety level. Chi square values were calculated to find out the associations of anxiety level among mothers regarding Thalassemia. Type of occupation is having level of significance with anxiety level (9.005). It is revealed that mothers need complete information regarding Thalassemia and methods of coping mechanism to reduce their anxiety level.
