A Study on Stress Management Among College Teachers in Salem District

Abstract


Stress at work preserve is a real problem to the organization as well as for its workers. Good management and good work organization are the preeminent forms of stress prevention. If employees are already stressed, their managers and higher authorities should be aware of it and know to help. There is often mystification between pressure or challenge and stress and sometimes it is used to excuse bad management practice. Factors such as job insecurity, long hours, continuous change and unrealistic deadlines can cause serious problem for workers. The aim and goal of this paper is to know the various factors to stimulate stress level among the teachers in college level. Right from the time of birth, until the last breath drawn, an individual is always exposed to various stressful situations. Stress happens whenever one’s mind and body reacts to some real or probable situation. Since every circumstances or event in our daily life cause some type or degree of stress, it is unrealistic and impossible to eliminate stress, totally from one’s life. The level of stress is more due to the increase in population, slum areas, unemployed youth, migration, industries, pressure of work, travelling time, long working hours, and lack of time for people, irregular eating practice, need to take hard decisions, sleepless night, poor living conditions, torture by seniors, etc. In this research, the researcher has made an attempt to identify the reasons of such stress affected college teachers.
