A Pilot Study to Assess the Behavioural Problems Among Adolescents Studying in Selected Schools at Kottayam District, Kerala

Abstract


Adolescents are highly vulnerable to behavioural problems. This study meant to discover the occurrence of interactive problems among adolescents. It was also expected to discover relations between behavioural problems with nominated demographic variables. Objective: (1) To assess the prevalence of behavioural problems among adolescent, (2) To associate the prevalence of behavioural problems among adolescents with selected demographic variables. Design: Nonexperimental descriptive design. Setting: High schools and higher secondary schools of Kottayam district. Participants: Adolescent students in the age group of 13–18 years. Sample size – 400. Results: 43.25% are in the borderline category, 39.75% are in the non-clinical category and 17% are from Clinical category. Conclusion: Adolescents with behavioural problems need counselling and relaxation technique to improve their life.
