Selfie Addiction - A New Generation Addiction Disorder
Abstract
India has the highest number of selfie deaths than any other country in the world, in the last two years. Exact prevalence is not known, but as per the experts, approximately 40% or higher percentage of teenage, young and adult population in the developed countries are suffering from the selfie addiction with the manifestations varying from mild to severe. They engage themselves in taking photos, posting it immediately and seeks attention from others in the form of likes and comments, thus it leads to selfie addiction disorder. Unfortunately, India had the most reported selfie deaths in the year 2016. Nurses must create awareness on selfie addiction among the public to protect and improve the Nation’s health and Well-being.
