A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structure Teaching Program on Knowledge Regarding Side Effect of Chemotherapy among the Care Taker of Cancer Patient in Siddhpur Cancer Hospital

Abstract


Introduction: Cancer is a diseases involving abnormal cell growth with potential to invade or spread to other body. Many treatment options exist for cancer. The primary one includes surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormonal therapy, target therapy and palliative care.
Objective: (1) To assess the knowledge of the care taker of cancer patient regarding side effect of chemotherapy. (2) To evaluate the knowledge of the care taker of patient regarding side effect of chemotherapy after the structure teaching program. (3) To find out association between level of knowledge with their selected demographic variables.
Design: Pre-experimental design one group pre-test and post-test design was used.
Participation: 70 care takers of cancer patient were selected using non–probability convenient sampling techniques in Siddhpur cancer hospital. Tool: Questionnaire was used to assess the level of knowledge among the care taker of cancer patient. Result: ‘T’ test value is 1.29. This value is significant at p < 0.05 level.
Conclusion: Care takers had increase level of knowledge.
