Evaluate the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Road Traffic Accidents and Prevention among the College Students in Karuna College of Nursing, Vilayodi, Chittur, Palakkad

Abstract


Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention of Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) among the college students Method: Pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test research design were used. The Sample of 60 students studying in selected a nursing college of Kerala were selected by stratified simple random sampling technique and data were collected by using the structured knowledge questionnaire. Results: Data were analyzed and interpreted by using both descriptive and inferential statistics. In pre-test only one student is had adequate knowledge, 49 had moderately adequate knowledge and 10 students had inadequate knowledge. During the post-test all the students had adequate knowledge. Pre-test mean score is 13.83 and standard deviation is 3.414. The post-tests mean score is 27.167 and standard deviation is 1.718, t test value is 22.44. The calculated value is higher than the table value which is significant at 0.001 level. Conclusion: Hence it can be conclude that structured teaching program improved the knowledge of adolescent students regarding prevention of RTAs.
