A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding Rheumatoid Arthritis among Old Age People in the Selected Hospitals of Jalandhar, Punjab

Abstract


Background: To effectiveness study to assess the knowledge of rheumatoid arthritis at hospitals of Jalandhar was undertaken at Bharat Institute of Nursing and Training Center Punjab Nurses Registration Council, Chandigarh during the year 2016-2019. Objectives: (1) To assess the pre-test knowledge score regarding rheumatoid arthritis among old age people in selected hospitals of Jalandhar. (2) To assess the post-test knowledge score regarding rheumatoid arthritis among old age people in selected hospitals of Jalandhar. (3) To compare the pre-test knowledge score and post-test knowledge score among old age people in selected hospitals of Jalandhar. (4) To co-relate the pre-test knowledge and post-test knowledge score among old age people in selected hospitals of Jalandhar. (5) To find out the association between the pre-test and post knowledge score regarding rheumatoid arthritis old age people with selected demographic variables. Method: The effectiveness survey approach was use for assessing the knowledge of old people regarding rheumatoid arthritis a total 60 people were selected by using purposive sampling technique the data obtain were analysis and interpreted in term of the objective and hypothesis. Results: The findings of the study revealed that pre-test knowledge score was 24.6% and post-test mean knowledge score was found out to be 62.6%. Hence, null hypothesis was rejected and research hypothesis was accepted and concluded that the post-test knowledge regarding selected rheumatoid arthritis was significantly higher than the pre-test knowledge score.
