Abstract

Back pain is one of the most common problems among all the students around the world. Nursing students need to have knowledge regarding body mechanics which help them to reduce the chances of back injuries during their clinical experiences and their job. The purpose of the study is to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on the level of knowledge regarding body mechanics. A pre-experimental research approach was used for this study. Sixty students were selected by convenient sampling technique and data were collected in the month of April 2018. The data were collected through self-structured questionnaire tool after taking written permission from the principal of the selected college and also informed consent from selected students. The data were analysed by definitive and presumed statistics. The result of the study indicates that, after giving structured teaching programme, maximum students, i.e. 58.33%, had good level of knowledge followed by 23.33% had average level of knowledge, and the minimum, i.e. 18.33%, had excellent level of knowledge, and none had below-average level of knowledge. The findings of the study concluded that there is effectiveness of structured teaching programme on the level of knowledge regarding body mechanics.
