A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF STRUCTURED TEACHING PROGRAMME ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING PREVENTION OF COMPLICATIONS IN REARING PET AND FARM ANIMALS AMONG PARENTS OF CHILDREN AT SELECTED COMMUNITY AREA BELLUR NAGAMANGALA TALUK, MANDYA DISTRICT, KARNATA

Abstract


ABSTRACT
Little children are more interested in animals and there will be lack of immunity in them. They are more prone for infections caused by animals. Whereas older children are more prone for crush and bull horn injuries. Young children are less likely than adults to wash their hands well after touching or coming into contact with objects that fall in surface which is comprised with infection and then be placed in infants’ mouth. Pets are good; they provide happiness and joy to children and can help in teaching children values and social skills. The study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on prevention of complications in rearing pets and farm animals among parents In this study pre experimental one group pre-test and post test approach was used.60 parents were selected from Javaranahalli village,Bellur using non probability convenient sampling technique. The data was collected by structured questionnaire schedule. Data was analysed and interpreted by applying statistical methods. The findings of the study revealed that there was a marked increase in post test overall knowledge a score than pre test. In knowledge, post test mean score 20.6(68.66%) and the pre test score 15.5(51.66%) which represent the effectiveness of structured teaching programme, the calculation was found to be (paired t value) 12.83 which was highly significant at p<0.05 levels.
