Abstract

The present study investigated the health seeking behaviour and its influential factors in child care among mothers of under-fives in selected area Anganawadies of Njarakkal Panchayat, Ernakulum, Kerala. The Rosenstock’s health belief model was adopted to study the health seeking behaviour in child care and its influential factors among mothers of under-five. The researcher also intended to assess the association between health seeking behaviour in child care among mothers of under-five and sample characteristics using Chi square and it was found that 86% of mothers have most appropriate health seeking behaviour. Delay in seeking appropriate care and not seeking any care contributed to the large number of child morbidity and death among children. The prompt and appropriate health seeking behaviour help in decrease the morbidity among under-five children.
