Abstract


mothers of low birth weight babies admitted in KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital Belagavi, Karnataka, India. Objectives of Study: (1) To assess knowledge of the mothers of low birth weight babies regarding kangaroo mother care. (2) To assess the effectiveness of health education on kangaroo mother care among mothers of low birth weight babies. Methods: An educational programme was conducted using pre-experiment alone group Pre-test and Post-test research design. The study was conducted on 40 mothers of low birth weight babies in KLES Dr. Prabhakar kore charitable hospital, Belagavi. Data obtained was tabulated and analyzed in terms of objective of the study using Descriptive and Inferential statistics. The hypotheses formulated for the study were. H1: The mean post test knowledge scores of the mothers of low birth weight babies’ regarding kangaroo mother care will be significantly higher than their mean pre-test knowledge scores.
