A Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Menstrual Hygiene among B.Sc. (N) First-Year Students Studying in Selected Nursing College of Belagavi

Abstract


A study was conducted on 30 first-year B.Sc. (N) students of Belagavi, with the objectives to assess the knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene among first-year B.Sc. (N) students and to find association between levels of knowledge with their socio-demographic variables. Materials and methods: The study was confined to 30 students who are studying in K.L.E.U Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi. Convenience sampling was used to select 30 samples from selected colleges. Data were collected by means of questionnaires. Results: In pre-test, 23.33% of the respondents possess poor knowledge, 56.66% of the respondents possess average knowledge, and the remaining 20% respondents possess good knowledge. Whereas in post-test, 0% respondents possess poor knowledge, 36.66% respondents possess average knowledge, and the remaining 63.33% respondents possess good knowledge. Among demographic variables, there is a significant association between age, religion, mother’s education, and source of information, and a non-significant association between type of family and place of residence. Conclusion: The findings of this study have implication for nursing practice, nursing education, nursing administration, and nursing research.
