A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching on Early Detection of Visual Disturbances in Children Among Primary School Teachers in a Selected School at Puducherry

Abstract


Objectives: The objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of video teaching on early detection of visual disturbances in children among primary school teachers. Methods: Pre-experimental design – one group pre-test and post-test design. Results: Majority 61.5 (24) of primary School teacher had inadequate knowledge, 35.9 % (14) had moderately adequate knowledge and 2.6% (1) had adequate knowledge in pre-test. When comparing with the post-test knowledge after a video assisted teaching on early detection of visual disturbances in children shows the level of knowledge among primary school teachers 59%(23) had adequate knowledge, 41%(16) had moderately adequate knowledge. Conclusion: Video assisted teaching programme was effective in increasing level of knowledge on early detection of visual disturbances in children among teachers
