Abstract

Breast milk – “The liquid gold,” nutritionally and immunologically, there is no challenge as to the dominance of human breast milk over formula, which cares child and the mother. Articulated breast milk was suggested as substitute for breast milk. This necessitated the storage of milk for longer time and making it more widely acceptable and usable. The use expressed breast milk for those infant had made considerable impact on morbidity and mortality of infant. Method: A True experimental research study where experimental and control group pretest–posttest only design was used to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching module on knowledge concerning techniques of stating and consumption of articulated breast milk to create exclusive breast feeding among working lactating mother; The figures were collected from 100 working lactating mother by simple random sampling technique for both experimental and control group by using closed ended knowledge questionnaire. RESULTS: ‘Z’ test and chi-square test was calculated. In experimental group the Findings revealed that the pre-test scores is 15.5±3.1which is 38.75% of the total mean score, where as in posttest the total mean score is 33.5±3.5 which is 83.75% of total mean score. In control group the Findings revealed that the pre-test scores is 13.82±2.52 which is 34.55% of the total mean score, where as in posttest the total mean score is 13.36±2.36 which is 33.4% of total mean score. Conclusion: From the findings of the present study it is concluded that video assisted teaching module on techniques of expressing and utilization of expressed breast milk is effective for improving the level of knowledge among working lactating mother.
