P. Padmavathi

Abstract

Pregnancy and delivery are natural, joyous, human events. Remember that the most important thing is to relax and enjoy this wonderful experience. Video therapy is a complimentary therapy that makes labour process more easy. Evaluate the effectiveness of intraoperative video therapy on anxiety among mothers with cesarean under spinal anesthesia. Quasi-experimental design: non-equivalent pre-test and post-test with control group design was used for the study. The setting of the study was Valli hospital, Erode, Tamil Nadu, India. 30 mothers with cesarean were selected by convenient sampling and divided as 15 in experimental group and 15 in control group. Intraoperative video therapy was given during intraoperative period and control group received routine care (eye pad). The anxiety post-test mean score control group (34.33) was significantly less than in experimental group (24.07). The paired ’t’ value was 6.43 in control group and 10.42 in experimental group and unpaired ‘t’ value 3.4 was significant at p<0.001. Intraoperative video therapy was effective in reducing the level of anxiety in mothers under spinal anesthesia.
