The role of Nurse in the Positive Aging culture

Emanuele Primavera, Simona Leonelli

Abstract

The main goal of this paper is to introduce the positive aging theory in the geriatric nursing context. In particular, how to implement the interventions carefully in the way to improve the capabilities and skills of professional nurses. Being a theoretical paper, we carry out a thorough literature review, and we propose a new model of nursing care. The model we propose analyses the potentialities and performances of older people focusing on their strengths; it gives a way to work with older people to nurses in every setting care. These findings can be used to organize departmental activities by nurses’ managers; moreover, can be used to develop the competencies of nurses who work with older people.
