A Study to Assess Outcome of Maternal Anaemia in Neonates Admitted in Pravara Rural Hospital, Loni

Abstract


Introduction: Anaemia is a very common haematological problem particularly among pregnant women, more important it also affects the neonate’s health in various aspects. This study was conducted to assess mothers’ anaemia and its effects on the growth and haematological status of neonates. Statement: A study to assess outcome of maternal anaemia in neonates admitted in Pravara Rural Hospital, Loni. Objective: To assess outcome of maternal anaemia in neonates. Methodology: Research design: Retrospective descriptive research design with the probability sampling of simple random of lottery method type. Data collection: Data was collected by using structured questionnaire about socio-demographic and clinical variables of mother. Result: Maternal anaemia associated with preterm birth, low birth weight, as well as low APGAR score and jaundice.
