A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice about Menstrual Hygiene among Adolescent Girls in Selected Hostel at Vadalur, Cuddalore District

Abstract


Menstrual hygiene depends upon the education,socio-economic and cultural status of family. School curriculum also has some role in menstrual health. Today the number of women who have irregular menstruation periods is increasing in developing countries including India due to later child bearing and fewer children.Objectives: (1) To assess the existing knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene practice among the high school at Vadalur. (2) To determines the effectiveness of structure teaching program in menstrual hygiene practice. (3) To associated the pretest and posttest level score of knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene practices. Sample: The sample for this study comprised of around 50 adolescents girls. Sampling technique: Convenient sampling technique is used for selecting the sample for the study. Findings: The result depicts 74% (37) had moderate knowledge and about 26% (13) of adolescent girls had adequate knowledge and mean value was 15.15 and 104.0. 74% adolescent girls having a moderate knowledge 26% of adolescent girls having an adequate knowledge.
