Comparison of Work Health Environment Among Staffs Working in Nursing and Engineering Colleges, Chennai

Abstract

Introduction: This study sought to compare the work health environment among staffs working in nursing and engineering colleges. Methods: The study design is descriptive comparative research design and setting is at nursing and engineering colleges, Chennai. Fifty staffs were selected by non-probability convenience sampling as per the inclusive and exclusive criteria. The data were collected by demographic variables pro forma and assessment of level of work health environment. Data were analyzed by descriptive–comparative and inferential statistics. Results: The nursing staffs had healthy work environment in psychological environment: 86 (68.8%), whereas the engineering college staffs had healthy work environment in physical environment: 86.22 (68.97%). The mean and standard deviation between staffs working in nursing college (Mean 70.76, SD 9.754) are comparatively higher than staffs working in engineering college (Mean 69.48, SD 11.1216). This difference was statistically significant at P < 0.05 level. Conclusion: In modern days, it is true that everyone experiences unhealthy work environment, so psychosocial interventions should be implemented in work settings to enhance healthy work environment.
