COVID-19: Issues Faced by Nursing Professionals in Clinical Case Management

Abstract

COVID-19 is a viral disease caused by SARS Cov-2. It was initially discovered from Wuhan city of city, which later on engulfed whole of the world. It brought various challenges to fore. Healthcare system was badly and adversely affected. Medical, Nursing and Paramedical staff played a crucial role all over the world even battling various other challenges at the same time. Nursing professionals sacrificed their social life and abandoned families for the care of patients; still their visibility is not recognised. Nursing professionals faced a lot of issues while dealing with COVID-19 patients which remains unfulfilled till date. Nursing officers must be provided with required facilities and supplies for the better care of patients. They need to be heard and their issues need to be sorted and they need to be involved in decision making policies pertaining to them.

Noorul Amin, Senior Nursing Officer (MSc CHN, MSc CFT), Department of Nursing Administration, Sher I Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Jammu & Kashmir, India

Noorul Amin is working as Nursing Officer in the Department of Nursing Administration, SKIMS Soura. He has completed his B.Sc Honours Nursing from University of Kashmir via Bibi Halima College of Nursing & Medical Technology in the year 2014 and secured Ist rank in the course. Gold medal was conferred on him from University of Kashmir, in the 19th special Convocation of the veracity in the year 2021. He has pursued his Nurse Internship from King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh Saudi Arabia in the year 2013. Later on he pursued M.Sc Counselling & Family Therapy from IGNOU RC Srinagar in the year 2017 and is the only candidate who has completed the said course in that year. He has refined his skills by completing his Postgraduation in Nursing [Community Health Nursing] in June 2021 from Mader e Meharbaan Institute of Nursing Science & Research, SKIMS deemed University as an in-service candidate. Moreover he has completed two online certificate courses from University of Houston College of Nursing and Bloomberg College of Public Health, John Hopkin University.Noorul Amin has been continuously working in the field of Nursing both in private, public and government sectors. He has worked as visiting faculty for various Private Nursing and Paramedical institutes of Kashmir valley and impart education to nursing and paramedical students at various levels. He has worked as Staff Nurse in the Department of Gastroenterology, SMHS hospital, Srinagar. Later on he was appointed as Staff Nurse (Nursing officer) in SKIMS Soura and has been working in this premier health care institute since April 2015. He has worked as Consultant Quantity Assessor with City & Guilds Manipal Global for a period of three years from 2014 to 2017.Noorul Amin is serving various organisations in the capacity of editor and resource person. He is working as editor in chief of two national journals of nursing and editor of 2 more nursing journals published by MAT journals. He is also working as editor in two international journals published by Journals Pub. Besides this he is the Member, Editor & Course Mentor at Centre for Continuing Nursing Excellence, Consortium e Learning Network. He has been awarded as editor with outstanding contribution award for the journal of "International Journal of Emergency and Trauma Nursing" in the year 2020. He is also working as editor in nursing journals of mantech publications. He is also working as associate editor in Trends in Nursing Adminstration and Education (TNAE) and Indian Journal of Holistic Nursing (IJHN) published under the aegis of ADR Publications. He is also a Member of Association of Indian School Counsellors & Allied Professionals, Moolchand Medicity Lajpat Nagar New Delhi. Moreover he is also a registered Counsellor and lifetime member of Counsellor Council of India. Besides he is reviewer at some international journals particularly at Springfield publishers, Elsevier, Colaece research group etc. He has near about 22 publications to his credit; most of them has been published in various journals of national and international repute. He has attended various conferences, workshops and seminars both at national and international level. He has attended a large number of online courses offered by World Health Organization on COVID-19 and by Department of Personnel and Training , Government of India via DIKSHA. He has presented some papers at conferences as well. He is working as a practising Psychotherapist and Mental health Counselor at national level. His interests are Counselling, Mental Health, stress, anger and crisis management, Maternal and Child Health, Holistic Health care, elderly care, IEC activities so on. Noorul Amin has also worked in the field of Counselling and family therapy. He used to provide Counselling and guidance to young people who uses to approach him in times of distress. He has served and successfully provided therapies for smoking cessation, depression, anxiety, panic disorder and much more. He used to provide first aid, being from Nursing background to stabilize a patient who needs referral. He has also worked with one educational consultancy for career counseling in Srinagar kashmir. He continuosly motivates candidates to pursue their higher education in Nursing after GNM and motivates other candidates with bachelors degree in Nursing and Paramedical sciences, to pursue Masters in Nursing and Paramedical sciences as career counselor. He remains available to people in this hard time of COVID 19 round the clock, 24×7.
