Periampullary Carcinoma: A case report and application of Neuman Nursing Theory

Abstract

Periampullary carcinoma is a heterogeneous group of neoplasms arising from the head of the pancreas, the distal common bile duct and the duodenum. Type II diabetes, heavy alcohol drinking, cigarette smoking, excess body weight, chronic pancreatitis, a family history of pancreatic cancer and known identifiable risk factors for pancreatic cancer. Diagnosis and staging are achieved by a combination of endoscopic, radiologic, and histologic features. Whipple’s procedure is one of the surgery for this condition to treat.
