Abstract

The Human Genome Project has carved a milestone in culminating a draft of human DNA. The scientific discoveries for the first time in tandem with research and explored the social, legal, and ethical implications. Several committees have studied the policy implications of the genetics information explosion. This monstrous task has the potential to dramatically increase our understanding of human evolution and variation, and most importantly, human disease. Public policy issues that affect nursing practice in the genetic area must be explored by individual nurses and professional nursing organizations
