Abstract

As per W.H.O Elder abuse can be defined as "a single, or repeated act, or shortage of proper action, occurring within any relationship where there is an prospect of trust which causes harm or desolation to an older person". Elder abuse can take diverse forms such as financial, physical, psychological and sexual. It can also be the result of intentional or unintended neglect. The elder abuse is increasing now a days across the globe as per different global statistical reports, “India is the second most populated country in the world with the population of 1.3 billion with old age people accounts 104 million. Out of which, 53 million are females and 51 million males. The reduced mortality rate and increased life span have contributed to more percentage of elders compared to earlier years. 1 in 6 older adults have been abused in the pastly.
