Syndrome of Impending Compartments: A Case Study

Compartment syndrome is a disorder in which the circulation and functionality of the things inside a small compartment are compromised by increased tissue pressure. This occurs when pressure is raised over a certain level for a long enough period of time to lower capillary perfusion. The neurons and muscles inside the afflicted compartment therefore get inadequate tissue oxygenation as a result of the deficient tissue perfusion. The female came to the hospital with the history of fall on the floor and the complaints of pain, decreased movements, swelling and tenderness in the left hand wrist for 1 week. She was diagnosed as Impending Compartment Syndrome of Left wrist. She underwent symptomatic treatment and elevation of hand (arm sling) for 1 week. After the treatment, she got discharged from the hospital.References
