Clamped Umbilical Cord Hernia: Eyes Cannot See What Mind Doesn’t Know

An 8-day-old male neonate born of full-term home delivery, had umbilical cord tied by dai and later clamped again at local hospital, presented with intestinal obstruction. On examination, it was evident that umbilical cord hernia was mistakenly clamped twice, first at home by dai and then by local hospital. Baby underwent umbilical exploration and revealed clamped bowel which had got gangrenous. It was resected and primary anastomosis was done; baby doing well in follow up.References
