An Exploratory study to assess the level of Satisfaction and Attitude regarding online learning during COVID-19 pandemic among Nursing Students, Selected college, Ludhiana, Punjab.

Abstract


The global outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic has spread worldwide, affecting almost all countries and territories.  The outbreak was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The countries around the world cautioned the public to take responsive care. The public strategies have included hand washing, wearing face masks, physical distancing, and avoiding mass gathering. Lockdown and staying home have  been put in place the needed action to control the disease transmission. Lockdown and social distancing have led to closure of schools, training institutes and higher educational facilities in most countries. On line learning, distance and continuing education have become a panacea for this unprecedented global pandemic despite the challenges posed to both educators and the learners. The present study was conducted with the purpose to determine the level of Satisfaction and Attitude regarding online learning during COVID-19 pandemic among Nursing Students, Selected college, Ludhiana, Punjab and the objectives of this study was to  assess the level of satisfaction  regarding online learning during COVID -19 among  nursing students, to assess the attitude  regarding online learning during COVID -19 among  nursing students and to find out the relationship between the level of satisfaction and attitude regarding online learning with socio-demographic variables such as age, gender, course of study, year of study, level of education of mother, level of education of father, family income per month, area of residence, availability of electronic gadgets, type of data connection. Population was nursing students of selected college, Ludhiana. Convenient sampling technique was adopted to select the subject of study. Final data was collected from 150 nursing students by administered self structured satisfaction and attitude scale ( five point likert scale) . Data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics and data was presented in tables and graphs. The findings of present study was revealed that majority 59.3% of nursing students were in the age group of 21-23 yrs. As per gender 94% were females and 74.6%  were B.Sc (N) students. Maximum (33.4%) were in 4th year. The  level of education of Father and Mother of maximum (65, 71%) students were educated upto matric respectively. 38% nursing students family had family income 15000-20000 rs. Per month and maximum 58%  were residence of rural area. More number (83%)  of students preferred to use mobile phones as electronic gadgest and 80.6% have mobile data connections. Overall 64% nursing students were agree towards online learning and 88.6% had neutral attitude. There was significant relationship regarding online learning with year of study, family income per month, area of residence and availability of electronic gadgets with level of satisfaction but there was no significant relationship between attitude and among variables under study.
