The Challenges Posed by Nursing Students in the Clinical Settings: Case Observations from SKIMS Soura

Noorul Amin, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat

Abstract

In nursing education, students are placed in the clinical settings to gain beginning skills and practical knowledge related to the field. This exposure to hospital environment enhances their teaching learning process. In clinical settings, they are assigned to preceptors, or we can say nursing officers so that they can achieve their pre-set goal and objectives. This practice is taken as a thrilling experience by most of the students but what we have observed in practice is somewhat different in the tertiary care hospital of the Jammu and Kashmir namely SKIMS Soura. The visiting nursing students from various colleges and universities pose various challenges in clinical settings for various cadres particularly for nursing practitioners of the observed area.
