Knowledge Regarding Prevention of Vector-Borne Diseases Among Housewives

Abstract


The present study was aimed to assess the knowledge regarding prevention of vector -borne disease among housewives. The objective of the study wasere to assess the knowledge regarding prevention of vector -borne diseases and to find the association between knowledge regarding prevention of vector -borne diseases andwith selected socio -demographic variables. The study was based on health belief model. The research design adopted for the study was descriptive survey design. There were 30 housewives selected for the study by convenience sampling method. The data collection instruments used in the present study was a structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding prevention of vector -borne diseases. The data collected were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The study revealed that, most of the housewives, 63.3%, haveing moderate knowledge and 26.7% of housewives were havinghave inadequate knowledge regarding prevention of vector -borne diseases. The level of knowledge was not significantly associated with selected socio -demographic variables at 0.05 level of significance (age ( =5, P = 5), religion ( =2.201, P = 0.699)).
