A Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Prevention of Bloodstream Nosocomial Infection Among the Students of B.Sc. Nursing 3rd Year and GNM Nursing 3rd Year of Gian Sagar College of Nursing, Ramnagar, Banur, Patiala

Abstract


Background: It is estimated that almost 250,000 cases of bloodstream nosocomial infection occur annually and is the tenth leading cause of death in the USA. Aims: The aim of study was to compare the knowledge regarding prevention of bloodstream nosocomial infection among the students of B.Sc. Nursing 3rd year and GNM 3rd year. Method: A nonexperimental quantitative research approach with comparative descriptive research design was used. The present study was conducted in Gian Sagar College of Nursing, Ramnagar, Banur, Patiala. A total of 70 subjects were selected using nonprobability convenience sampling technique. Demographic performa and self-structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Validity of tool was checked by the experts and reliability was checked with split half method. The pilot study was done and confidentiality was assured. Conclusion: The study present concluded that B.Sc. Nursing 3rd year students have more knowledge than GNM 3rd year students with mean difference of 0.07.
