Anemia Review: Guide to Basic and Role of Healthcare Provider

Suchitra Saji, Indulkar Saloni, Madhuri Pawar, Himanshu Solanki, Nimisha Vala

Abstract

Anemia is the most common nutritional deficiency worldwide. Over 2 billion people are affected. It can affect people of all age groups. Understanding anemia’s varied types and complex etiology is crucial for developing effective interventions. In this article, we outline definitions and classifications of anemia along with causes and treatment. The initial treatment of anemia is available in the form of oral preparations as sustained or extended-release in various dosage forms, strengths, and salt types. The absorption enhancement and inhibition depend to a greater extent on various factors. It also emphasizes the role of healthcare providers in guiding and educating the population about anemia.
