Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome among Girls

Abstract


A study to evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome among girls studying in selected degree colleges at Aurangabad”.
The objectives of the study were:
1. To assess pretest knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome among girls studying in selected degree colleges.
2. To develop and administer planned teaching programme regarding Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome among girls studying in selected degree colleges.
3. To assess the post-test knowledge regarding PCOS among girls studying in selected degree colleges.
4. To evaluate effectiveness of planned teaching programme regarding PCOS among girls studying in selected degree colleges.
5. To find out association between pretest knowledge score with selected demographic variables.
Methods:
This study was conducted to evaluate effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding PCOS among girls studying in Degree College. Convenient sampling technique was used for the sample collection of 60 girls studying in degree college in Government Pharmacy College. The present study was evaluative in nature, conducted over a period of four weeks 18th January 2016 to 13th February 2016. The conceptual frame work used for the study was based on Ludwig Von Bertalaniffy’s modified open system theory.
Result:
 In pre test 10% (06) subjects had poor knowledge, 90 %( 54) subjects had average & 0 % (0) subjects had good knowledge regarding PCOS.
 In post test 100 % (60) subject had good knowledge regarding PCOS.
 The study proved that the mean post test knowledge score 26.31 was greater than the mean pre test score 12.5. The mean difference between pre test& post test score was 13.81. Paired t test score was paired‘t=25.00’ *p<0.05 is significant at 0.05% level. This indicated that the PTP was effective in increasing the knowledge of girls studying in selected degree college regarding PCOS
Interpretation & Conclusion:
The findings of the study supported that effectiveness of PTP in increasing the knowledge regarding PCOS among the girls studying in degree college.
