Reflective Learning In Nursing Education

Navreet Kaur Saini, Raman Kalia

Abstract

Reflective learning is a type of education in which students reflect upon their learning experiences. All levels of nursing, from students to advanced practitioners, are affected by reflective learning. Critical thinking, empowerment, motivation, and self-efficacy are the skills essential for practicing nurses;, hence, the implication of nursing students developing these skills cannot be undervalued. Reflection is a practice which promotes active development of these skills by involving students in analysing, synthesiszing and integrating their experience, thus, revolutionising their learning. Inculcation of these skills makes them competent, facilitates self-understanding, thus, improves quality of patient care. Reflective learning cultivates critical thinking, problem -solving and decision -making which are the basic qualities for endless learning and development among nursing students.
