Effectiveness Of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge regarding Iron Deficiency Anemia Among Adolescent Girls in Selected Schools At Tiruvannamalai District.

Abstract


Introduction: Anemia is one of the most widespread public health problems especially in developing countries.  Materials and Methods:  A quantitative approach was used in the study; a quasi- experimental one group pretest posttest design was adopted. The sample sizes 30. The conceptual framework was based on the modified model of Widenbache’s Helping of Clinical Nursing Theory (1964). A convenience sampling technique was adopted. The tool used for data collection was structured knowledge questionnaire. Result: The study findings reveals that the pretest majority of participants 16 members (53.3%) had moderately adequate knowledge, 14 members (46.6%) had inadequate knowledge and none of them had adequate knowledge. During post test in majority of the participants 24 members (80%) had adequate knowledge, 6 members (20%) had moderately adequate knowledge and none of them had inadequate knowledge. Conclusion: The findings reveal that structured teaching programme was effective method in reducing   deficiency Anemia among adolescent girls.
