Quality of Life Among Hemodialysis Patients at a Selected Hospital in Ajman, United Arab Emirates

Abstract


Background: In order to evaluate the Quality of Life of patients receiving hemodialysis at the Thumbay University Hospital (TUH), Ajman, UAE, a cross-sectional study was conducted. Objectives: The study's objectives were to evaluate patients receiving hemodialysis for quality of life and link those patients' quality of life to demographic factors. Materials & Methods: Purposive sampling technique was used to select samples. The quality of life of 45 patients undergoing hemodialysis at the dialysis unit of TUH wasassessed using the QOL - KD - SF 36 Quality of life tool (Dialysis patients). Findings: The study findings revealed that, 62.2% ofthem had a moderate quality of life whereas, 11.1% had poor of quality of life. Only 26.7% of patients undergoing hemodialysis had a good quality of life. The quality of life of hemodialysis patients was not correlated with any of the demographic factors.
