Assess the Knowledge and Attitude of Staff Nurses Regarding Nursing Care of Unconscious Patients in Hospitals of Kangra District (Himachal Pradesh): A Descriptive Study

Abstract


Caring the unconscious patient is an arduous experience. An unconscious person doesn’t have any command over themselves and their surroundings and accordingly they may be mostly depending on the nurse; however, it is necessary that each nurse should acquire knowledge and also know how to provide complete nursing care. The present study was initiated to assess the knowledge and attitude of nurses about nursing care of unconscious clients and to find the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of nurses regarding nursing care of unconscious patients. Descriptive research design was accepted. A non-experimental approach was carefully chosen for the study. Self-structured questionnaire for knowledge and Likert scale for attitude tool was used for the study. The data analysis to assess the knowledge and attitude was done by descriptive and inferential statistical results revealed that 55% staff nurses had good knowledge, 33% had average knowledge, 12% had excellent knowledge and 0% had below average knowledge. The attitude of staff nurses revealed that 63% of staff nurses had neutral attitude, 27% had positive attitude, and 10% had negative attitude
