Abstract

Care bundles contain a number of evidence-based interventions that, when used in concert, have been shown to yield better results and have a higher impact than the standalone application of individual interventions. The goals of the present study were to evaluate nursing staff members' knowledge, attitudes, and practices about infection control bundles in critical care settings and to determine how these factors relate to sociodemographic factors. A descriptive study was carried out in full compliance with ethical standards provided by the Research and Ethical committee of Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh after approval from the mentioned committee of the institution. A total of 90 participants were chosen by convenience sampling from GMCH-32, Chandigarh, India. Data were obtained from study subjects by using the proforma developed by the investigators consisting of part I- to collect sociodemographic data, part II- to assess the level of knowledge, part III- to assess the level of attitude, and part IV- to assess the practices. Data analysis was done by calculating mean, mode, median, standard deviation, percentage and frequency using descriptive and inferential statistics. Association of level of knowledge, attitude and practice with sociodemographic characteristics was carried out by using Chi square test of significance. The present study demonstrated the sociodemographic variables and concluded that the highest number of participants belongs to age group of less than 30 years, having experience between 5–10 years. Majority of participants included in the study carried good level of knowledge, positive attitude, and adequate practice.
