Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding Patient Safety Among Second-Year B.Sc. Nursing

Abstract


Patient safety is an important and essential component of quality of care. It’s important to know about patient safety including system impact on the safety and quality of health care in future roles and to manage various strategies to resolve and prevent errors and complication, as well as evaluate results to improve long-term performance whether in hospital or any setting. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding patient safety among second-year B.Sc. Nursing students. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test research design is adopted with 30 students. Self-administered questionnaire was used to determine the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on patient safety. The results reveal that the comparison of pre-test and post-test levels of knowledge, the pre-test mean score was 14 with standard deviation of 13.44, and post-test mean score was 23 with the standard deviation of 10.51 projected t-value has 14.51 which shows high significance at the level of p < 0.001.
