Abstract

Everyone has to work more accurately and fast in this competitive environment. To keep pace with this advance culture students also need to be more competent and efficient, sometimes these higher expectation and work pressure causes anxiety among students. It works positively for them too as it keep motivating them to achieve their goal. However sometime excessive anxiety among students can impair their functioning which need some coping strategies. Pranayama being a simple and efficient tool for improving healthy life should be tested on nursing students too for their benefit. Hence this study was conducted. Aim of the studywas to reduce the pre-examination anxiety among senior secondary students so that their academic performance can be enhanced. The study’s goals were to: (1) measure the level of exam anxiety among senior high school students before pranayama, (2) to develop and implement skills of Pranayama technique, (3) to measure the amount of exam anxiety among seniors in high school following pranayama, (4) to investigate the relationship between pre-exam stress following pranayama and certain demographic factors. It was conducted using a pre-experimental study design (one group pre-test-post-test design). The Beck Anxiety Scale was used to gauge the subjects’ levels of anxiety both before and after using the pranayama techniques on the sample of 60 people, which was selected using a non-probability purposive sampling technique. Following the application of the pranayama technique for 10 days, data was gathered and examined using descriptive and inferential statistics. According to the results, there is a 26 point difference between the mean scores for the pre-test and post-test, which is extremely significant. The calculated paired ‘t’ test value is 7. At a probability level of 40, an SD of 0, and a 0.001 level, 51 exceeds the value in the table. Thus, it has been established that practicing pranayama considerably lowers anxiety levels across the board. In order to increase quality of life,
the study found that pranayama is an efficient way to manage anxiety that is simple to implement into daily life. Recommendations: A similar study may be undertaken on a large sample for better generalization by adopting comparative research design.
