Knowledge Regarding Child Abuse Among Mothers of Preschoolers

Abstract


The present study was aimed to assess the knowledge regarding child abuse among the mothers of preschoolers. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding child abuse among the mothers of preschoolers and to find the association between knowledge regarding child abuse among the mothers of preschoolers with selected demographic variables. The study was based on health belief model. The research design adopted for the study was non-experimental descriptive design. There were 30 mothers of preschoolers selected for the study by convenience sampling method. The data collection instruments used were structured questionnaire to assess the socio-demographic data and structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding child abuse among the mothers of preschoolers. The data collected were analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics study, which revealed that 53.3% of mothers are having good knowledge, 36.7% of mothers are having excellent knowledge and 10% of mothers are having average knowledge regarding child abuse. There is no association between the level of knowledge and selected socio-demographic variable (p-value > 0.05).
