To Assess Patient Satisfaction toward Nursing Care in Hemodialysis Centers in Al Academy Hospital at Khartoum State, Sudan, 2017

Abstract

Improving patient satisfaction has become one of the primary aim for a lot of increase healthcare providers(4). This is a descriptive cross-sectional hospital based study. It was conducted in AL academy  Teaching Hospital  with main aim to assess patient’s satisfaction in heamodialysis unit . it involved (73) subjects covered  totally, average age group between 26-35 is high percentage (55%), most of participate is male (58%). The participate is secondary (41.1%).the most of study  is marital (37%) and few of them is widowed(10%) and most participate unemployed (32%) and few of them is employed(14%).  (29%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding dissatisfaction aspect of nurse patient relationship: If the nurse welcome you to hemodialysis unit patient satisfaction most of them mention dissatisfaction, (40%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding neutral aspect of nurse patient relationship- If the nurse explain to you for long waiting times and delays                                     Most of them mention neutral,(34.2%) of the study sample responded with correct answers satisfaction regarding aspect of nurse patient relationship, Nurses performance attend to patient. (64.4%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding satisfactions: Nursing observation taken prior to dialysis, (67.1%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding Neutral ,Nursing physical examination prior to dialysis,, (40%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding Neutral History taken and current history of water and dietary intake ,   (40%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding satisfied ,Nurses observation taken post dialysis prior to administration post dialysis drugs, (67.1%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding Neutral level of patient satisfaction with nursing care before and after-. Satisfied with the way nurses initiate dialysis,  (40%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding satisfied level of patient satisfaction with nursing care before and after- Protection of monitoring of dialysis by nurses in regarded to responding to alarm and patient needs,,(53.4%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding satisfied level of patient satisfaction with nursing care before and after- Administration of medication by nurses during dialysis, (56.2%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding satisfied level of patient satisfaction with nursing care before and after- Nurse’s enquiry to physician for corrective changes in case results of kidney function tests are found abnormal  , but(1.4%) of them is  very dissatisfaction, (32%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding satisfied level of patient satisfaction with nursing care before and after -Satisfaction with the way catheter size and found are dressed by nurses and adherence to protocol recommendation in dressing catheter exit sites , but (4.1%) of them is dissatisfaction .(53.4%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding satisfied ,Carrying out doctors orders by nurses , but(1.4%) of them is  dissatisfaction , (77%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding no to Identification of causes  of dissatisfaction- Decrease in connected dialysis machines, (77%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding yes to Identification of causes  , (53.4%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding yes is Identification of causes  of dissatisfaction- Inadequate number of dialysis machine ,but (47%) of them mention No ,, (70%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding no is Identification of causes  of dissatisfaction- Unfavorable attitude towards patient, (70%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding yes is Identification of causes  of dissatisfaction-. Lack of adequate monitoring, (88%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding no to Identification of causes  of dissatisfaction -Poor nurse-patient communication,, (63%) of the study sample responded with correct answers regarding no to Identification of causes  of dissatisfaction- Inadequate supplies, Conclusion The study concluded that majority of patient had adequate satisfaction toward the nurses and Recommended to  Identify  of patient satisfaction is increase indicator and reflect quality of health care service specially nursing care .
