KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF NURSING STUDENTS REGARDING COVID VACCINATION

Abstract


The coronavirus disease has had a serious impact on the health of all people. Vaccination is an important method to prevent or reduce the spread of infection. Currently, there are many vaccines available in the world, which are considered to be safe and effective. Hesitancy in vaccination has been one of the biggest obstacles in receiving vaccination1. This study aims to find the knowledge and attitude of nursing students regarding covid vaccination. A descriptive research approach was used to find out the knowledge and attitude of nursing students regarding vaccination. The study was conducted in a selected nursing college at Kottayam district. A convenient sampling technique was used to select the samples. A total of 60 students have participated in the study. Data was collected in three sections, including baseline data, knowledge questionnaire, and an attitude scale. The findings of the study reveal that the majority of the participants were females (96.6%). Most of them (55.1%) belong to the age group of 18-20. 45% of them belong to the first year. Among them, (56.66%) of them took a booster dose of covid vaccine.61.66% of them were affected with covid19 and most of them doesn’t have any complications after covid infection. The above figure depicts that most of the students (63.33%) have good knowledge regarding covid vaccination and none of them are poor in knowledge regarding covid vaccination. The above picture depicts that 91.66% of the nursing students have a favorable attitude towards covid vaccination. There is a positive correlation exists between the knowledge and attitude of nursing students regarding Covid vaccination.
