Efficacy of Teaching Program on Knowledge of Nursing Students Regarding Simulation in Nursing in Selected Nursing Colleges
Abstract
Research approach: A quantitative research approach was implemented. Design: Pre-experimental research design with a single group pre-test and post-test was used in the current study. Objective: To assess the impact of the teaching program regarding simulation in nursing among student nurses. Method of sampling and sampling technique: Non-probability sampling method with the purposive technique of sampling was utilized to select 40 subjects. Collection of Data: Socio-demographic profiles and structured knowledge questionnaires were used to collect the information. Analysis of Data: Descriptive and inferential methods were utilized to compute the data. Results: The study findings on pre-test knowledge scores were that 72.5% (29) of the nursing students had average knowledge, 12.5% (5) had good knowledge, and 15% (6) had poor knowledge. In the post-test, 19 (47.50%) students came under the good level of knowledge, 17 (42.5%) subjects scored an average level of knowledge and 4 (10%) of them secured poor knowledge. These results showed that the pre-test mean was 15.12 and the standard deviation was 4.67, but, in the post-test, mean was 17.85 and SD was 5.12. The calculated two-tailed 't’ value was (-2.50) which was higher than the table value (0.0053) which was highly significant at the 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion: The result of this current research depicts that the teaching program was effective in improving the knowledge of subjects pertaining to simulation in nursing.
