A Study to Assess the Knowledge and Attitude on Organ Donation Among High School Teachers in Selected Schools at Bangalore, With the View to Develop Information Booklet

Abstract


Objective: The objective of the study to determine the knowledge and attitude of high school teacher about organ donation. Method: Nonexperimental descriptive method was adopted in this study. The study was conducted at Grijamba School. Sample size was 50 high school teachers. Convenient sampling technique was used. Structured questionnaire was used for data collection. SPSS software version was used for data analysis. Result: Findings reveled (52.29%) had positive attitude and (64%) had negative attitude towards organ donation and over all mean percentage was 55.41% with standard deviation 5.55. The correlation is positive and significant at P < 0.05 more the knowledge, more the attitude. Among the demographic variables analyzed in this study there is significant association between age with the knowledge scores of participants at both 0.01 and 0.05. Conclusion: Awareness about organ donation helpful for the community for registration of safe organ donor with an effective donor education, motivation and development of strategies.
