Grapevine: An Informal Communication

Abstract

Within an organization there are two types of internal communication occurs, one is formal and other one is informal. Formal correspondence is a sort of verbal or report introduction mean to pass on data and which fits in with built up proficient tenets, guidelines and procedures whereas informal correspondence does not have definite channel of communication and information run through many individuals which covers a long distance and making its origin obscure, this type of communication is called as grapevine communication. Informal communication can be personal or informal relationship amongst the group members. Grapevine communication is classified it into the four basic types; single strand chain, gossip chain, probability chain, and cluster chain. Grapevine established a social bond where none of the people existed. Individuals like to speak to one another; whether they talk work related matter or family matter or anything which they want to talk. The organizational channels to get to the facts of the matter like much of the information that gets spread through the grapevine are not verified.
