Distribution of Drug on Bed: An Effort to Reduce the Crowd in Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Jaipur, Rajasthan (India)

Abstract


Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Jaipur, Rajasthan, one of the largest hospitals of the country, is staffed with 700 doctors and 1770 nurses with 2282 beds in 72 wards. It has many specialty and super-specialty departments with many intensive care units, semi-intensive care units and operation theatres. It is the most populated hospital of the country with 575 average patients in in-patient department, 7780 average patients in out-patient department and 854 average patients in accident/emergency per day. This population of patients, their relatives and staff seems as crowd in hospital. The resources are limited. This crowd increases a lot of problems which affects the quality of care of patients. Therefore, a study was conducted and the research report with some recommendations was submitted to the Medical Superintendent of the institution. The Medical Superintendent decided to implement the given recommendations; many things are being done. The “distribution of drug on bed” is an effort to reduce the crowd in the above-said hospital.
